The Air Core Pillow by Big Agnes is great for the backcountry or anywhere packing room is an issue. When deflated, it takes up minimal room and can be stored in its own stuff bad. Inflating to its large 16"x 12"x 2.5" it takes less than a minute and it's easily adjusted by letting air out of the valve. The pillow's material isn't as comfortable as the pillow on your bed, but, covering it with a fleece or similar makes it more than adequate.I've used this pillow while camping and on flights. It comes with a mesh stuff sack. Inflates to a medium size pillow that is supportive even for a man with a long neck like me. Well-made and seems to be very durable. Cons: It doesn't feel good when using it by itself. However, take along a pillow case and stuff the pillow inside it and it will feel much better. Suggested use other than camping: You can fold it in half for use in tight spaces like a mummy style sleeping bag or aircraft seat. Obviously, inflate it about half full when folded. Excellent for use in aircraft especially for short people where the head rest is way too high. It molds to the curves of the aircraft seat and forms a new customizable headrest. For flat pillows in hotels, you can again inflate the pillow to the desired level and stuff it in for extra support. |
