5.0 out of 5 stars Great Cookset, November 16, 2008
By
I have used this cook set twice since I bought it. Once on a hiking trip a few weeks ago, and the night before last I used it on a short, solo hiking/camping trip in the mountains. For one person, you can't beat it. I am not a fan of the alcohol burners quite yet, but this cook set has worked great with Sterno and Magic Heat. I used it so far to heat coffee, heat can goods, and boil water for sanitation and good ole oatmeal. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than titanium cook sets and it works fine. I can fit two cans of fuel along with my Magic Heat stove and a aluminum foil wind barrier inside the closed cook set. All of this fits inside the mesh bag that comes with the stove quite nicely. Plus there's room for a couple of lighters as well. It is very compact and takes up hardly any space at all in my pack, which is something that is much needed. Overall, for one person, this is a great lightweight cook set.

It's a great little kit if you're going solo. Really lightweight, and you can beat the hell out of it without denting it. One thing to know, however, is that the standard isobutane/propane canisters don't fit inside the pots. But, I just found other crap to throw in them so it's not that big a deal. Great pots!

I've taken this camping for three days since I received it for christmas. It has performed well and shows no wear as of yet. It feels and looks well made. It fits together good for storage. The handles are well designed. I had some doubts that the green handle insulation would negate the need to use gloves while heating but I was wrong. For the Jackson that my wife spent, I am well satisfied. And this is coming from a cheapskate. Before this terra solo i used an aluminum grease holder (very similar to a mini percolator coffee pot) for three years and just dealt with it constantly popping open and spilling the soda can stove, heating stand, and lighter I stow in it when it's packed for hiking. On a side note, I strongly recommend a soda can stove. Just be sure to drill four 1/16 holes instead of one 1/4 hole. The four hole design prevents any chance of a backfire and you don't have to keep a penny with you!

If anything happens to my terra solo that contradicts this... Read more
