I also took a chance on the handle design as I usually go for a straighter shape (not to mention the knife is made in taiwan). when it arrived I thought "it looks alright".I noticed the lack of steel liners and the feeling I got was not of confidence. After playing with this thing for the last 2 weeks straight I have to say WOW. This thing is better than most of my 100 dollar made in US knives. I HAVE NEVER SEEN G 10 IN THIS FASHION. It does not need steel liners to hold the blade secure. The g10 is thick and grippier than any other g10 knife I own. while the g 10 is thick the knife overall is very slim period. perhaps due to no need for steel liners. Locking is tight and tough! this knife has been successful in setting a new standard of pocket knives for me. nothing under 4inch for me and always consider a cold steel knife. As much as i love the design, the ergonomics, and the blade, the one thing about this knife that i hate with a vengeance is the Triad lock. It is extremely difficult to close and i emphasize "extremely." At first you might not mind, but over time, it takes its toll on the fingers. It's stiff and sticky and not smooth at all. Sadly, this setback brings the whole knife down. The lock-up on the original Recon 1 was tons better so if you can still find one the market, i recommend going with that one.
