Mud and/or loose dirt can't get in your shoe. The material is lightweight and stretchy -- just high enough to cover a quarter crew sock. I recently purchased these gaiters and have used them for about 60 miles of trail running. They are lightweight, durable, easy to put on, and do the job. They nicely cover the top of the shoe as well as the knot and top of the laces. They use a strap that goes under the shoe which I was worried about since ALL my trail running shoes are flat on the bottom (no recess for strap to sit in). But the strap is staying right where it should and is showing no signs of wear even through the rocky rugged terrain here in Utah. I wear size 13 shoes and have thick muscular legs and the Large fits perfectly. If you don't fit that description you'll probably want to go to a smaller size.BOTTOM LINE: These are great gaiters for keeping debris out of your shoes for hiking or trail running. They are small and light enough that you won't even know they are there. As the other review states, these may be great for trail running. However, if you plan on going through any kind of high grass with annoying stickers, you'll definitely want to go with a heavier duty alternative. The mesh attracts these items just as well as a sock. In order to get these things tight, you must pull the velcro flap past the majority of the velcro, so it flaps around. So definitely order a size smaller. |
