BackgroundMy main focus is fishing so when my previous marine AM/FM radio died I didn't worry too much about it for about 6 months. But every now and then when you are going to and from your fishing spots or during downtime when you are just cruising you still want some tunes. My previous radio had a removable face, here in FL, saltwater eats everything alive and all of the contacts corroded between the removable face and the base unit. Due to the harsh water conditions and my minimalistic marine radio needs my only requirements were that the radio not have a removable faceplate and that it be truly waterproof for longevity. Finding a waterproof (not just splash resistant) marine radio proved to be harder to find than I thought. This radio turned up and appeared to be just what I was looking for. I was looking to replace the O.E.M. marine stereo radio installed on my '09 Bayliner boat. The digital display had gone bad, so it was difficult to see what radio station was playing. After searching around, I found this exact same radio on Amazon.com and it was a great price too. (It has been discontinued by the mfg.) I was still unsure if I wanted another radio like it, since the original one had a problem. I called the mfg. and actually got a nice guy who was very helpful with my questions. After talking to him, I decided to order it. Installation was a breeze, since the wiring harness supplied by Bayliner to the radio didn't have to be changed or rewired. I loved that and had it back in within ten minutes! It is probably about average, as far as stereos go, and has no CD player which I would like to have had.
